Data Protection (Privacy) Information

This website is operated by the following four Alpine associations (“We”): Alpenverein Südtirol (AVS), Deutscher Alpenverein (DAV), Österreichischer Alpenverein (ÖAV) and Schweizer Alpenclub SAC. In this Data Protection Information, We as the collective controllers responsible for processing (as defined in Art. 26 GDPR / General Data Protection Regulation) describe the manner in which we ascertain and process your personal data (or briefly “Data”) in connection with this website.

Fundamentals

We take data protection very seriously and treat your Data confidentially and in compliance with the statutory regulations. As new technologies and the continuous further development of this website may entail changes to this Data Protection Information, We recommend that you read the Data Protection Information again in regular intervals.

Definitions of the terms used (e.g. “personal data” or “processing”) are provided in Art. 4 GDPR.

Your Data We Process

Whenever you visit this website, We collect some information, which is specified exactly in the sections “Server Logs”, “Cashless Payment Systems” and “Cookies”.
Moreover, We also process such information that you disclose voluntarily by filling in the contact or registration forms (name, address, contact data, payment data).

Purposes of Data Processing

We process your Data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:

We process and store access data in “server logs” to protect our prevailing legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 clause f GDPR:

  •  to provide this website to you, including our services;
  •  to be able to prepare use statistics;
  •  to improve our offer and our website; and
  •  to recognise, prevent and analyse attacks of our website.

Data you entered, which are required to perform a contract or for pre-contractual measures according to Art. 6 para. 1 clause b GDPR:

  • to enable reservations for you;
  •  to act as intermediary between chalet operators and you; and
  •  to respond to your requests.
Transfer of Your Personal Data

For the purposes outlined above, We will transfer your personal data to the following recipients, who will process your Data exclusively within the EU and in Switzerland:

  •  operators of those chalets where you make a reservation;
  •  information technology (IT) and telecommunications service providers We contract
  •  cashless payment systems service providers We contract
  • Service provider in the field of customer surveys

The transfer to Switzerland as a third country is based on the adequacy decision of the EU Commission based on Art. 45 GDPR.

Server Logs

We process the IP address of the requesting computer together with date and time of the request, the file that was requested (name and URL), the data volume that is transferred to you, a report whether the request was successful, identification data of the browser and the operating system used, as well as the website from which the access to the file occurred (if the access comes from a link). The server logs are stored to enable the control of system security and to recognise, prevent and analyse attacks, administer the websites in technical terms, as well as to optimise the offer. In the event of a hacker attack, those data are disclosed to the law enforcement authorities. There will be no transfer to third parties beyond the foregoing.

Cashless Payment Systems

Chalet operators may request you to enter your credit card data as a condition for the binding reservation. This is required to be able to offer cashless payment processes to you. In such cases, We do not store your credit card data in our system, but use the online services of the payment service providers “hobex AG, Josef-Brandstätter-Strasse 2b, 5020 Salzburg” for the validation and handling of cashless payment processes. To transact such services, we transfer your credit card data and your IP address to the payment service provider. Storage Period

We will store your Data (server logs) for a maximum period of six months. If Data have to be stored for evidence purposes, they shall be excluded from deletion for as long as it takes to clarify the event.
If you make a reservation or register on our website, We will store your Data by all means for as long as your account exists and afterwards only for as long as provided under statutory obligations. If you contact us using the offered contact options, your Data will be stored for 12 months after the last communication to enable us to consult the communication history.

Cookies

Our website uses what is known as cookies. These are small text files deposited on your terminal device by way of the browser.
We use cookies to make our offer more user-friendly. Some cookies remain stored on your terminal device until you delete them. They allow us recognising your browser again when you visit us next time.
